Questions,
made clearer.

How do users know if a smartphone supports eSIM?

To use eSIM, your smartphone must be carrier-unlocked and eSIM-compatible.

  • iPhone Carrier Lock Verification: Open Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock and confirm the status displays "No SIM restrictions."
  • eSIM Hardware Compatibility Verification: Dial *#06# on the smartphone phone keypad. If an EID number and an IMEI number appear on the screen, the smartphone supports eSIM technology.
Does scanning a QR code start the plan?

No. Scanning installs the eSIM.

For QR-code eSIMs, the usage period starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported mobile network in the covered destination.

Can a traveler use a physical SIM card and a travel eSIM at the same time?

Yes. Smartphones with Dual-SIM technology allow a physical SIM card and a travel eSIM to operate simultaneously.

  • Primary/Home Physical SIM: Remains active for phone calls, SMS text messages, and two-factor authentication codes.
  • Travel eSIM: Assigned exclusively for cellular data usage.
  • Roaming Fee Prevention: Verification in smartphone system settings is required to confirm the travel eSIM is selected as the sole cellular data provider.
How do I set up the eSIM upon arriving at the destination?

1. Go to Settings > Cellular / Mobile Data.
2. Turn ON the eSIM profile.Set this eSIM as your primary line for Cellular Data.
3. Turn Data Roaming ON specifically for this eSIM.
4. Note: If you don't see a connection within two minutes, simply restart your phone.

What is the refund policy for eSIM orders?

Customers are completely covered by eSIME's Money-Back Guarantee before activation! You can receive a full refund or order adjustment if:
1. Standard eSIMs: The eSIM must be uninstalled and unexpired.
2. Carrier-Push eSIMs: The eSIM cancellation request must be submitted at least 3 days before the scheduled activation date.

How is an eSIM data plan expiration time calculated?

eSIM data plan validity is calculated using four primary parameters:

  • Calendar Day System: Validity operates on natural calendar days, not 24-hour blocks.
  • Local Time Zone Reset: For most travel destinations, an eSIM data plan resets or expires at midnight (00:00 local time).
  • UTC Exception Reset: Certain destinations reset daily at 00:00 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
  • Product Page Specification: The applicable time zone standard for an eSIM data plan is listed on the specific eSIM product page.
Does scanning an eSIM QR code activate the eSIM data plan validity period?

No. Scanning an eSIM QR code initiates the eSIM installation process, not plan activation.

  • eSIM Installation: QR code scanning installs the eSIM profile onto the smartphone or device.
  • eSIM Activation Trigger: The data plan validity period begins when the installed eSIM connects to a supported mobile network within the covered destination.

What if I delete my eSIM by accident or need help while traveling?

Recovery options depend on the eSIM installation type:
